Research experience:

Dr. Chua Kein Huat obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Electronic and Systems) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2004, Master of Engineering (Electrical Energy and Power System) from Universiti Malaya (UM) in 2009 and Ph.D (Electrical Engineering) from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in 2016. His Ph.D research area is in energy storage applications for electrical grid.

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering, UTAR. His research focuses on energy storage system, energy management system, energy audit, earthing and lightning protection systems, electrical machines and drives.

He is a Certified Electrical Energy Manager and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) with Energy Commission since 201. He is also a PSMB Certified Trainer under the national Train-the-trainer (TTT) program. He has more than 10 years’ experience in conducting trainings and workshops for professional bodies and industries. He has carried out the Electrical Energy Audit for many industrial and commercial buildings.

He works closely and collaborates with several industry partners to address their problems such as power quality issues, harmonics issues, poor electrical motor performances, poor earthing, and poor energy efficiency.

He is currently conducting the Energy Efficiency Training Course Series approved by Suruhanjaya Tenaga as follows: Green Technology and Energy Efficiency, Energy Management and Energy Audit, How to Run AC Motors Efficiently, Troubleshooting and Maintenance of AC Motors, Accelerating Energy Efficiency Through Industry 4.0, and Mitigating Power Quality Issues with Uninterruptible Power Supply.
